Swan- milk justice Three year old Kushaagra was lying on his stomach, a box of crayons at his elbow, scratching in his sister , Natasha's colouring book. His pages of crayon lines were works of a super most great artist to his parents while Natasha, the 8 year old, fumed inwardly for having to share her precious big colouring book. Her mom was busy in the kitchen and her pappa in his room cum office , doing his office work , sitting before a computer all day. Her grandfather was sitting right there, reading a newspaper and keeping an eye on the young, cute brats. Suddenly, Natasha burst out laughing , looking at the colour Kushagra had given to a group of swans, floating in a lotus pond. " Look, grandpa, Kush has coloured the swans in black colour!!. Aren't they white? Ayyo....Kush, you have to colour them in white. Not black. " Stubborn Kush plumped his chubby cheeks some more and cried, "No.....I want them black only.". Grandfather kept away the paper and came and sat near them. " It's OK dear. Let him do them with any colour he wants. Black swans do exist. They are found in Australia. Anyway, even if you paint them with a colour which is not their natural one, no animal is going to be deprived of its uniqueness.. " Natasha was thoughtful. " Are all animals unique?" " Yes dear. Not just animals. God has made each and everything and every creature and human being as unique, each of them having a special quality of their own. " " Then what is swan's speciality?" Natasha wanted to know. " A swan's speciality is that if you give him a cup of milk mixed with water, he can just drink the milk and leave the water inside the cup. " " Oh, that's wonderful. I want to see a swan do that. " " We will ask your pappa to Google search for pictures. And you should know something else, Natasha. God created this uniqueness as a lesson to mankind " " Oh, okay. What lesson should we learn from this swan, grandpa? " " Through the swan, God is asking us to absorb, observe, notice only the virtues of a human being, leaving behind his vices. The vices are that individual's look out, to identify and correct them as early as possible. But, we human beings, do the reverse. We should learn to recognise and respect good qualities and ignore the bad ones. Okay? By the way, do you know that the swan-milk justice is called as HAMSA-KSHEERA NYAAYA in Kannada? " Natasha was all ears. She loved the times with her grandpa who was always telling them new things. Even Kushagra was listening attentively. Just then, mom's voice called them over for their lunch. 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
